Abstract

In the early Islamic period, zakat and waqf were instruments of state income. Public awareness of the payment of zakat and waqf at that time maximizes State income. There are several factors that construct public awareness of the importance of optimizing zakat and waqf at that time, first: the community's paradigm of zakat and waqf. Second, the heart to heart socialization carried out by the government to the community and the existence of other supporting factors. In order to optimize the collection of zakat and waqf in modern times, digitalization, optimal management and marketing are not enough. The government and institutions collecting zakat and waqf must do theosophical doctrine towards society. In addition, the existence of a report on the implementation of the distribution of zakat to people in need is a concept of transparency that is needed by society today. In this study the authors analyzed the doctrinalization and effective forms of socialization of zakat and waqf. In addition, the solutions that will be given are the result of reflection on past implementation.
