PENANGANAN ANAK AUTIS STUDI KASUS ANAK DI TK PERTIWI LHOKSEUMAWE

Abstract

Children with autism are children with special needs who have special characteristics and are different from other normal children. Pertiwi Lhokseumawe Kindergarten has early childhood who has autism and placement is combined with other normal children in one class. The research aims to describe (1) the characteristics of autistic children in Lhokseumawe Pertiwi Kindergarten, (2) the way teachers deal with autistic children in Lhokseumawe Pertiwi Kindergarten. (3) find out the obstacles faced by teachers in dealing with autistic children in Pertiwi Lhokseumawe kindergarten. This study uses a qualitative approach and type of case study research in class B6 TK Pertiwi Lhokseumawe. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that (1) the characteristics of autistic children like to play alone, do not care about their environment, avoid face to face with others, and have unstable emotions. (2) the handling done by the Pertiwi Lhokseumawe kindergarten teacher to children with autism by providing personal assistance, giving special attention or affection, giving hugs and embracing it so that children want to do activities while playing learning. (3) the obstacles experienced in handling autistic children include: difficulty in controlling emotions when the child is overflowing with anger and also Pertiwi Kindergarten also does not have expert teachers who are in accordance with special education
