AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ COMPREHENSION IN IDENTIFYING FACT AND OPINION IN PARAGRAPH

Abstract

The objective of the study was to find out information about the percentages comprehension, analyze difficulties, and the factors of the difficulties in identifying fact and opinion in a paragraph. The methodology was used in this research was qualitative research. The data from students' interview answer sheet it found there were 17 (68%) students answered that the cause was less vocabulary, it meant the students lack motivation and interest reading, related to internal factor. The text too long became a cause for 5 (20%) students, it showed the reading material not interest for them. It was related to the external factor. There were 3 (12%) students who felt that no difficulties in identifying fact and opinion in a paragraph. There was some reason that might be the cause of students' difficulties in identifying facts and opinions. They were the difference between languages, lack of practice, and lack of motivation.
