THE APPLICATION OF THE ENGLISH CURRICULUM OF 2013 IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF INDONESIA

Abstract

ABSTRACT

This paper aims to analyze the 2013 English curriculum, the principles of the communicative approach,  inquiry method, teaching material, and lesson plans for the teachers who are teaching English at the secondary schools in Indonesia. The writer identifies a number of language learning theories and the importance of developing integrated skills for our students based on the curriculum of 2013 and the communicative approach principles. As we know, listening skills become the most critical early language teaching outcomes, but many secondary school English teachers in Indonesia  do not prepare any teaching materials for developing this skill. So the writer proposes that the English teachers should develop this skill integratedly with other language skills. The wrietr tries to write a sample of classroom activities to maximize students' opportunities to use English in a communicative way for meaningful activities.
